Peyrehorade is a small town of southern Landes county and is considered as the capital of the Orthe area.
It is located on the banks of the Gaves Réunis as directly downstream the junction of the two rivers of the Gave de Pau and gave d'Oloron.
Many old buildings show the richness and history of this town that was one of the main commercial places for fluvial exchanges.
You can visit in Peyrehorade the ruins of the Aspremont Castle (XIIIth century)on the heights of the town and the Montréal Castle (XVIth century) on the river banks that was the castle of the Vicomtes of Orthe.
